Item Description
A highly unusual and nifty calcite from this famous extinct uranium mine. This is a strange-looking two-sided pair of twinned calcite rhombs. One-half of the deep 'V' on the "A" side is a glassy, translucent, amber rhomb with frosted faces, with the other side having a striking preferential hematite coating. The unusual "B" side has a hematite coating, that is totally covered with tiny uncoated and hematite-coated calcite scalenohedrons! One end has periphery wear and just a bit of bruising is noted, but has minimal impact to this impressive twinned calcite crystal cluster. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and obtained in 1983. Ex National Museum of Canada, Ottawa, according to his label. Choice and rare material.
