Item Description

Calcite specimens from this famous Greek island, renowned for quartz prases included with green actinolite, not hedenbergite (Hyrsl and Niedermayr, 2003), are extremely rare. A fine calcite TWIN is VERY RARE! The very sharp, aesthetic twinned crystals have a sparkly to matte, variable oxide coating, that really adds character. The out-of-sight cleaved back to the large rhomb shows the crystals to be very glassy, water-clear to translucent and colorless. Moderate neon-orange fluorescence. The frontal display is pristine, except for the periphery wear at the base. The former dealer label has a $950 price tag. Exceptional and rare calcite from this well-known locale. Faint pink fluorescence. Ex Cynthia Payne Collection.
