A VERY RARE and exceptional calcite twin from this well-known New York zinc mine. A striking and artistic pair of interpenetrating twins is beautifully perched atop the stalk of smaller calcites. The lustrous, glassy, colorless rhombs have fascinating preferential water-clear and frosted, stepped-growth faces! Complete all-around and very nearly pristine. A very trivial, barely noticeable, front edge bruise and a contact on the back, where another crystal once lay, but with no damage, per se are noted. Certainly a very minimal detraction to this important New York calcite. Calcites from any of the ZCA mines are rare. Ex Cynthia Payne Collection. Priced by the former dealer at $950 and worth it.
