This is a beautiful twinned Calcite from Leiping. These are now some of the most iconic Chinese Calcites extant, and are certainly contemporary classics. This piece features the well-known and highly sought after "butterfly"-twinning habit featuring sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless twinned crystals with a slight amount of reddish iron staining. A really showy piece with only minimal damage. Worthwhile for a collector of the material or general Calcites, or just Chinese minerals. Ex Jim Robison carbonate collection.
