This is a beautiful twinned Calcite from Leiping. These are now some of the most iconic Chinese Calcites extant, and are certainly contemporary classics. This piece features the well-known and highly sought after "butterfly"-twinning habit featuring a sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless twinned crystal with slight reddish iron inclusions. A really showy piece and beautiful for the species. The smaller side of the twin might look contacted in the photos, but I looked at it with a loupe, and it's completely crystallized, it just has an interrupted growth. The bottom of the twin in contacted, but overall it's in superb condition. Worthwhile for a collector of the material or general Calcites, or just Chinese minerals. Originally priced at $950.
