Item Description

An aesthetic and divergent spray of frosted Calcite scalenohedrons mounted on just a bit of basalt matrix, from the well-known basalt traps of Brazil. The longest spire reaches 3.3 cm, and the tapered habit adds a great deal to the beauty and romance of each crystal. Wonderful, orange-red fluorescence. Two crystals are missing from the plate, but fortunately their positioning was such that the balance and beauty of this cluster are not really affected at all. Classic and choice, this small cabinet piece well-represents the well-known locality of Irai. From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
