Item Description
A beautiful specimen of Calcite from an undisclosed locality in Zacatecas, Mexico. This small cabinet is highlighted by a gorgeous, sharp, lustrous / waxy "star"-shaped twin of Calcite measuring 3.2 cm across which is sitting atop a mound of virteous translucent green colored Calcite matrix. The "star"-twin is exceptionally hard to find in nature, and this one of the most attractive and fine quality examples I've seen from any world locality. No real damage that I can see, save the base / bottom of the piece where it was removed from the pocket wall. An OLD specimen, probably dating back at least 50-60 years, I honestly have never seen another like it. A MUST HAVE for any Calcite collector of a fan of Mexican minerals. BETTER IN PERSON! HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH! Priced at $1,500 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9860). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
