Item Description
An unusual Calcite specimen from an undisclosed locality in Pima County, Arizona. The Calcites have formed in spherical aggregates comprising small, tightly intergrown crystals of a soft golden color. The piece is in great shape overall, and looks to me as though it might have grown in a stalactitic formation. A soft bluish-white fluorescence can be seen under SW UV light. The back of the label states that the piece was purchased from Norm Dawson at the Hollywood Show in California. Valued at $450. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2230). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
