Item Description

An old-time and very showy combination specimen from this historic district in Romania (probably the Cavnic Mine in Maramures County). Tan siderite preferentially coats the lower portion and richly coats the crest of the mounded matrix of glassy, translucent quartz points. Gloriously attached to the top of the piece are 5 or 6 gorgeous, fan-like sprays of snow-white calcite. This uncommon style of calcite is typical for some Cavnic calcite. The old German labels, especially the handwritten, two-sided label (19th Century) really add a sense of history to this fine piece from Siebenburgen. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock.
