Item Description

A spectacular group of cream-colored, coated, interpenetrating twins of Calcite from the Chimney Rock Quarry. In reality, there are three generations of Calcite: small crystals on the matrix, the large twins, and the fine, outer coating. The largest twins are an incredible 4.7 cm across, and where some of the main Calcite is exposed (Gen 2), you can see that the Calcite is fluorescent. Truly an outstanding, and aesthetic, specimen from this famous New Jersey Traprock quarry. Collected by Nick Facciolla in 1960, according to the collection catalog we have. It is pristine, 360 degrees. IN person, the combination of luster and color makes this look as if it is carved out of porcelain. A fantastic twinned calcite, East Coast or not.
