Calcite - sharp rhombohedra, the classic Tsumeb style!

A significant cabinet specimen! Colorless rhombohedra of calcite from Tsumeb are generally cloudy or muddied and, therefore, only translucent. This, however, is an exceptional specimen with top quality calcites that are razor sharp and pure in color. A series of 3.0 cm across calcite rhombs are colorless, mostly transparent, lustrous, and perched aesthetically across a ridge of matrix which has been dusted a pale green, possibly by mottramite. There is very minor peripheral contact, but it does not affect the beauty, given the size and overall impact this superb display specimen. Fine Tsumeb specimens, like this one, have been harder to find since the closing of the mine. The line of crystals is very 3-dimensional, and dramatic - better in PERSON!
