Item Description

Here we have a beautiful and hard to find Calcite specimen from the lesser-known Cozamin Mine in Zacatecas, Mexico. The piece is filled with beautiful, gemmy, colorless/white, vitreous scalenohedral crystal groups measuring up to 2.3 cm, which show attractive "scepter"-style growth, associated with greenish-gray prismatic crystals of Quartz, on matrix. Nearly all of the Calcites are undamaged, but there is a bit of peripheral roughness around the matrix where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. It's a very showy specimen as the Calcites have formed in an aesthetic grouping that flares out in multiple directions. The piece also sits beautifully on its own without a base or clay. This the only specimens we've had to offer from this locality in the auctions, and it's a distinctive and beautiful piece that would make a great addition to any Calcite suite or a collection of Mexican minerals.
