Item Description

This fine, sceptered calcite specimen from Villabona, Spain looks just like a classic, old-time specimen of sceptered calcite from the Blackstone Mine, Shullsburg, Wisconsin. The three-sided, translucent, gray scalenohedron is abundantly overgrown with lustrous 1 mm - 1.2 cm rhombohedral calcites in parallel stair-stepped growth. The scalenohedron is capped by an amber, translucent and lustrous 3.6 cm complex rhombohedral calcite crystal. You can see the termination phantom of the scalenohedron inside the rhomb and the additional large rhomb at the base really adds pazzazz. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial bruising to the two rhombs. A choice sceptered calcite specimen from the Clyde Hardin Collection.
