Item Description
Highly desirable and rare old antique USA classic sceptered calcite from the historic and extinct lead-zinc mines of the Shullsburg area of Wisconsin. This complete all-around and pristine 360-degree small cabinet is dramatically highlighted by the striking, transparent, complex, 4.2 x 4.1 cm, calcite rhombohedron with satin luster faces strikingly perched atop a scalenohedron covered with fantastic, dense second generation stepped-growth rhombs. The phantom in the rhomb really adds character to this very fine example. Mining started here as early as 1658 with the last mine closing in 1979. Seldom on the market today in this quality. A Wisconsin classic.
