Calcite (rich color)

Item Description

A showy and richly colored Calcite specimen from Nandan County, Hechi, Guangxi, China featuring sharp, well-formed, gemmy/translucent, trigonal crystals of a strong orange hue with an almost "greasy" luster, measuring up to 2.2 cm across, sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The color is likely due to iron oxide inclusions, but it's such a strong/vibrant shade of orange, rarely seen in Calcite. Minor roughness can be seen, but overall, it's a very presentable and attractive specimen of this older material from the mid 2000s.
