Item Description

Calcite specimens are RARE from this obscure Peru mine. This very showy and sculptural large 360-degree calcite is with two generations of crystals. The impressive large scalenohedrons, to 6.1 cm, have striking alligator hide-like stepped growth faces with the smaller crystals being the nailhead spar variety. The lustrous, translucent calcite vary from gray to light straw-yellow to colorless. Complete all-around and pristine. Modest pink fluorescence. Choice and rare calcite from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
