Item Description
Stunning, scuptural two-generation calcite from Texas! Calcite specimens are known from the Austin area of Travis County, but specimens of this exceedingly high quality are VERY RARE. Two striking, very glassy, colorless flattened scalenohedrons, to 5.8 cm, are dramatically set on the starkly contrasting golden-amber calcite rhomb. The scalenohedrons are transparent to translucent and have fantastic satin lustre, etched faces. The fabulous sharp notch in the gemmy amber calcite with scalloped faces, where another crystal once lay, adds real flair to this exceptional 360-degree specimen. Faint pink fluorescence on the scalenohedrons. A superlative and rare Austin, Texas calcite from the Blake Barnett Collection, well-known Austin field collector and dealer and the Allen Dillwith Collection. A MUST for the species or Texas collector!!
