Item Description
Dramatic sprays of sharp, lustrous, translucent, tan, RARE acute calcite rhombs envelop the sculptural 3-dimensional gossan matrix on this outstanding calcite from the famous Kelly Mine. Display quality calcite specimens are very uncommon from the Kelly and this is an exceptional example. The rhombs reach about 1.4 cm on this multi-sided piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 828 and acquired from Scott Williams in the late 1950s. Formerly in the Corley Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). RARE white fluorescence! A MUST for the famous locality or species collector!!
