Item Description

Calcite specimens of this style and quality are VERY RARE from this rich gold mine, famous for world-class barite specimens. This outstanding large specimen is composed of a striking dense jackstraw cluster of very glassy, translucent, pretty light mint-green, tapered flattened calcite rhombs with sharp edges to about 3.8 cm. Iron oxides are the possible chromophore, as copper is not listed for the locale by MINDAT. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, except for the periphery wear. A RARE and highly desirable calcite from the Art Soregaroli Collection and comes with a Harvey Gordon Minerals label. Harvey handled much of the finds from this locale in the late 1990s. Faint pink fluorescence. Value??? A MUST for the locality or species collector.
