Calcite (rare style)

Item Description

An outstanding and rare thumbnail matrix calcite specimen from the small, abandoned and mostly reclaimed diabase traprock quarry. A striking, very sharp, tapered, 2.6 cm, translucent nailhead rhomb, with satin lustre faces is very aesthetically perched on the shard of basalt matrix. The scattered goethite speckles add color and character. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The two contacts along the edges, where other crystals once lay, are barely noticeable and have little damage, per se. This adorable and rare calcite looks great from either side. A must for the species or locality collector.
