Item Description
A beautiful group of finely-crystallized rhombic scalenohedra of soft golden colored, translucent Calcite on matrix from this famous Bavarian locality. The crystals are sharp, well-formed, lustrous and very attractive up close. A slight dusting of what I believe is Pyrite can be seen on the Calcites. Interesting fluorescence under UV light as well. If you collect minerals of Germany or worldwide Calcites, don't miss out on this rarely seen specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2180). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A cool, odd German classic from the lesser-known locality.
