Item Description

A very hard to find Calcite specimen from the Martin Marietta Quarry in Lapel, Indiana featuring a group of sharp, well-formed, vitreous, pale yellow colored, scalenohedral crystals with minor attached matrix. The label accompanying the specimen states that the Calcite is twinned, but I'm not certain this is accurate, as it looks as though the crystals are simply intergrown at an angle that makes them appear to be twinned. A light dusting of golden metallic Marcasite can be seen on select faces of the Calcite for a nice touch. If you collect worldwide Calcites, minerals from the Midwestern United States or specifically minerals from Indiana, don't miss out on this one. Excellent quality all around, the only damage is on the base of the piece where it was removed from the pocket wall.
