Calcite (rare Indiana)

Item Description

Mineral specimens of any species are rare from the four Silurian-aged limestone quarries that MINDAT lists for Logansport. This is an exceptional large very glassy, transparent to translucent, complex rhombohedral calcite crystal. The iron oxide inclusions add pizzazz to this rare and fine 360-degree crystal. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A contact at the tip has no damage. A bruise along one edge and some basal contacting and periphery wear are noted, but are certainly very minimal detractions to this rare and fine Indiana calcite. A must for the localtiy or species collector.
