Item Description
Mineral specimens are RARE from any of the numerous localities listed by MINDAT for Pickens County. MINDAT lists 41 species with only 4 photos in the County Photo Gallery. This impressive and sculptural large specimen is composed of intergrown, blocky, translucent, colorless calcite rhombs strikingly accented with stepped-growth, waxy lustre faces. The dominating large rhomb is 6.3 cm across and the crystal is nicely accented with rainbow interference colors, when rotated. Moderate pink fluorescence. Formerly in the Bernard Kozykowski Collection. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1991. A RARE and very fine large calcite from the obscure Georgia locale.
