Item Description
Here we have a rarely seen Calcite "cast" from the famous locality at Broken Hill. The piece features small, sharp, white/colorless, "dogtooth"-esque scalenohedral crystals of Calcite which have formed over a preexisting crystal of Gypsum(?) which later dissolved away, leaving the hollow form inside. There is a slight amount of reddish-brown iron oxide, creating a very attractive two-tone appearance. We've only had one other piece of this material to offer in the auctions, and it's quite possibly from a single pocket at Broken Hill. It should be noted that these "casts" were labeled as epimorphs for a long time, but some have started calling them perimorphs, but we're leaving it simply as a "cast" for now.
