Item Description
Glorious, glassy, gemmy, colorless nailhead and scalenohedron calcite crystals are richly and dramatically festooned on this beautiful cabinet specimen. The crystals reach about 3.7 cm. This attractive piece looks like classic English material, but is, in fact from Arizona! The Portland Mine is an extinct less well-known intermittently worked open pit gold mine, last worked in 1989 (MINDAT). The porphyritic matrix is a telltale feature. In excellent shape, for all the richness. You barely notice the few broken crystals. The piece displays well without aid. SELDOM on the market in this quality and SIZE, from this locality.
