Item Description
This piece is from a fairly recent find at Chenzhou featuring a very good sized, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, pseudo-pyritohedral, very light straw colored crystal of Calcite on Quartz matrix. Keep in mind that Calcite is a hexagonal mineral, so to find an pseudo-isometric crystal habit is really unusual. The specimen is in decent shape overall, and despite a little bit of roughness, displays very well. The crystal measures 1.7 cm across, and would certainly make a good addition to a worldwide Calcite suite, or a collection of Chinese minerals. I have not seen many of these around, and this is one of the better pieces I have offered in the auctions in while.
