Item Description

The impressive diversity seen in Calcites from China from the standpoint of colors and habits is truly remarkable. This piece is from a find in Chenzhou dating back to 2005 featuring, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, pseudo-pyritohedral, very light straw colored crystals of Calcite on drusy Quartz on matrix. This particular habit of Calcite is rare in nature, as it appears to be more isometric than trigonal. The specimen is in great shape overall, as only a few crystals are contacted / cleaved, and the rest are in good shape. The piece displays very well as it's notably three-dimensional and showy. The largest crystal measures 1.9 cm across, and would certainly make a good addition to a worldwide Calcite suite, or a collection of Chinese minerals. I have not seen many of these around in recent years, and this is one of the better pieces I have offered in the auctions in while.
