Item Description

Calcite has retained the original form of the very sharp glauberite crystals on this classic and fascinating pseudomorph from Camp Verde. Calcite has replaced the striking intergrown cluster of dramatic spearpoint-shaped glauberite crystals. Glauberite is an uncommon Na-Ca-sulfate found in evaporite deposits and this ancient salt-clay-gypsum mining area is famous for such unusual pseudomorphs. In fine shape overall. The broken end to the large crystal is certainly only a modest detraction. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An artistic and fine example.
