Item Description
An older specimen from the famous Denton Mine dating back to circa 1980. This piece hosts excellent quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, pale golden colored scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 1.7 cm sitting atop attractive, dark amber-black colored, brilliant crystals of Sphalerite. Every Calcite is a like a little jewel, as the high reflective luster and beautiful internal clarity just makes them sparkle in the light. I can see that one of the Calcites has a cleave on the termination, but the rest of them appear to be in excellent condition. A wonderful example of these famous and now hard to find (the mine is complete closed down) specimens from this historic mining district in Southern Illinois. From the collection of Richard Heck.
