Item Description
The various mines around the Dalnegorsk Urban District in far eastern Russia are celebrated for producing some of the finest quality and most displayable specimens of various sulfides, Calcite, Quartz, etc extant. This large miniature / small cabinet sized display specimen is most likely from Nikolaevskiy Mine, but it was simply labeled as coming from Dalnegorsk, so it's difficult to know for certain. The piece hosts many sharp, well-formed, gemmy / translucent white compressed crystals of Calcite measuring up to 1.9 cm sitting atop a complex, sharp, black crystal group of Sphalerite measuring 2.8 cm across. There are some rough spots on a few of the Calcite crystals, but the piece is still very showy and good quality overall. A nice representation of this classic material dating back to the mid 1990s.
