Item Description

Mineral specimens are rare from this old extinct Pb-Zn-Barite-Fluorite mine in Derbyshire, especially rich and showy calcite specimens, such as this exceptional example. Glassy, translucent, oxide-tinted scalenohedrons are strikingly festooned, jackstraw-style on the quartz matrix. The impresssive, large, well-placed, doubly terminated crystal is 3.0 cm long. The scattered bit of periphery wear has negligible impact to the quality of this excellent and rich rarity. Ex J.W. Cooper and Frank Hissong Collections.
