Calcite on Quartz (ex Dr. Miguel Romero Collection)

Item Description

An old-time, showy and excellent, cabinet-sized combination specimen from the famous mines at Guanajuato. Gentle, translucent, tan, modified Calcite rhombs are perched on prismatic hexagonal Quartz crystals measuring up to 5.1 cm. The base of the piece is filled with tiny white Quartz "needles" and the underside shows a bit of an "Amethystine" hue. This scupltural three-dimensional piece, in itself, is in excellent condition. Classic combination material from this noted locale. I can't find any real damage with the naked eye. The Calcites GLOW rich a pinkish-orange under UV light. Hard to photograph, better in person. The piece would make a wonderful addition to a Quartz collection, a Calcite suite or a Mexican mineral collection.
