Item Description

Wow! A striking, old-time and rare combination specimen from the famed Ouray District of Colorado. Lustrous, brown, dogtooth, calcite, scalenohedrons (many doubly terminated) are strikingly, preferentially sprinkled on one side of the dense plate of glassy, quartz crystals tinted yellow by iron oxides. This fabulous, very uncommon, Ouray combination specimen is in super condition. Complete all-around. All of the many major crystals are pristine. Periphery wear at the base and a couple of broken crystals on the sides are not a detraction to this super Colorado piece. Classic, highly desirable, older material from the San Juan Mountains. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
