Item Description
Exceptional specimen of Calcite from the famous Tae Hwa Mine, known worldwide for its Scheelites and Molybdenites, among other things. The Calcites range up to 3 cm across, and the form is that of highly-flattened, distinct rhombs that look very much chisel points in multiple directions. The luster is good, and the surfaces are very finely textured, like that of small waves appoaching the beach. The cluster of Calcites is quite artistic, and it rests on a matrix of what appears to be tan Siderite rhombs and moderately gemmy Quartz crystals (non-terminated). I have seen nothing that compares to this piece, so the 'exceptional' descriptor certainly applies, as would 'unique'. This was #12,869 in Kay's collection.
