Calcite on Quartz

The bountiful, classic Stari Trg Mine in Kosovo (formerly Yugoslavia) is the central mine at the Trepca complex. For many years, this great locality produced some amazing display specimens including some classic combos featuring sulfides with carbonates. This is a wonderful display specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, translucent, compressed, very pale pink (slightly manganese-bearing) trigonal crystals of Calcite aesthetically sitting atop gem quality, colorless, prismatic Quartz crystals on minor matrix. The largest Calcite measures 1.3 cm. The piece is in great shape overall, and the quality and form of the Calcites is very good. Best seen up close, and really eye-catching in person. No major damage that I can find on the display side, just a few tiny imperfections.
