RARE and exceptional small cabinet calcite on palygorskite combination from old 1960s-70s finds at this obscure lead-zinc mine, that closed in 1977. Striking light gray, gemmy calcite crystals with satin luster faces are very aesthetically clustered and isolated on the sculptural matrix covered with palygorskite, a very complex hydrated silicate. The stunning doubly terminated large calcite is 2.3 cm across. Palygorskite, is also known as mountain leather and is a fibrous tangled mat on the piece. It's holding together a wiggly end on the piece. All of the calcites are pristine. Superb and aesthetic old-time calcite and palygorskite combination from the locale from the Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Very seldom on the market today in this quality. A must for the species or locality collector!
