Calcite on Marcasite stalactites

Two generations of Calcite sit beautifully on these sinuous stalks of crystallized Marcasite. The gemmy rhombs on top have a silky to glassy luster, and range up to 3.5 cm. They are outstanding. For Shullsburg Calcites to have any coloration is most unusual, and with this quality of crystal, highly desirable. The first generation of Calcites are singly-to-doubly terminated, included scalenohedrons that are super-sharp. The aesthetics of this showy, excellent old-timer from Wisconsin are undeniable.
