Item Description

A Midwest mineral classic! All of the impressive, larger, elongated, glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent, nailhead spar calcite crystals have striking, subtle, darker amber interior phantoms of calcite scalenohedrons. The two large flat-lying calcites are 7.5 and 6.5 cm long and striking upright calcite is 5.0 cm tall. The calcites are aesthetically clustered and isolated on the large, interesting sintered-looking marcasite matrix plate. Pristine and outstanding old-time combination mined in 1977, according to the accompanying label. $200 was not cheap in those days. Ex Chad Dalrymple collection of Ardmore, Oklahoma who passed away in 1995. We recently obtained a portion of his collection. Chad acquired this classic older large calcite with uncommon marcasite matrix in November, 1994.
