Item Description
Dramatic, sculptural and colorful large two-sided combination rib from the famous Stari Trg Mine of the historic Trepca Complex. Scintillating iridescent multi-hued tiny pyritohedrons cover both sides of the 3-dimensional flattened matrix. Complex translucent calcite rhombs, to 1.5 cm, with satin lustre faces are artistically clustered and isolated on this impressive piece. The calcite crystal cluster at the crest is a striking accent. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one small spot of bruising on the back side. The attachment is at the base. See the 1973 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 4, No. 2. Probably from 2000-2005 finds. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An exotic looking and excellent large two-sided calcite and pyrite combination from Trepca.
