Item Description

Calcite on galena specimens of this large, fine and old-time quality are quite uncommon from Cumbria. An impressive and aesthetic mounded corsage of pearlescent, translucent, tan, flattened calcite rhombs to 5.2 cm has enveloped a large, blocky, splendent, metallic-gray, partial galena crystal. The specimen is probably from the famous Alston Moor District. In fabulous condition, essentially pristine. Ex American Museum of Natural History Collection and Herb Obodda Collection # 3452. Heavy lead at 1133 grams or 2.5 pounds. Value to the locality or species collector???
