Unusual for the location, this is a burst of white color among purple and green material from the mine. A striking, rich crust of bone-white calcite coats the sculptural, large, intergrown cluster of rounded, cubic galena crystals on this RARE example of nearly complete calcite coverage from the Hailstorm Pocket from the Lady Annabella Mine at famed Weardale. A vein of purple fluorite underlies the galena cubes, with cubes to 1.3 on edge, noted on the fringe of the piece, adding contrast and character. Purple LW UV fluorite and modest pink LW UV calcite fluorescence. Heavy lead ore at 896 grams or 2.0 pounds mass. From a USA collector who diligently acquired specimens from every pocket. Very uncommon calcite on galena and fluorite from the find and locale.
