Calcite on Galena (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

A classic and very aesthetic display specimen of the famous combination of Calcite with Galena from the famous Sweetwater Mine. A 3.2 cm, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, pale golden color prismatic scalenohedral crystal of Calcite sits beautifully on sharp, lustrous, metallic, silvery Galena cubes up to 3.1 cm on edge. The piece sits beautifully without the aid of clay or a base. The main Calcite crystal appears to be undamaged with the naked eye. Valued at $600. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9273). Interestingly, this piece belonged to Tresa Kosnar (Foster) about 40 years ago when she swtiched from collecting miniatures to seriously collecting thumbnails. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
