Calcite on Fluorite (Ross Lillie Coll.)

Item Description

Amazingly sculptural and aesthetic calcite on fluorite from the famed Minerva Mine. Two crossed calcite scalenohedrons are dramatically set on the blocky highly etched two-color fluorite. The stunning upright calcite is 6.2 cm long and the striking opposing, flat-lying doubly terminated crystal is 7.2 cm. The translucent straw-yellow tapered calcites have satin lustre faces, with the embedded white calcite adding pizzazz. The strikingly etched amber fluorite is nicely accented with a patch of purple fluorite at the top. Complete all-around, this is an outstanding architectural calcite and fluorite combination. Very nearly pristine, it's hard to see, that all three calcite terminations are gentily bruised. Impressive Minerva combination calcite on fluorite from the Ross Lillie Collection # 0309 and collected during advance mining in March, 1993.
