Item Description

A classic combination of the famous species from the Minerva Mine in Illinois' old fluorite district. This is a fine Minerva mine large cabinet specimen with translucent, amber tipped, scalenohedral calcite crystals that are preferential draped across tri-color zoned fluorite cubes. There are windows in the late stage calcite coverage (meaning it came on after the fluorite), showing glimpses of the colorful fluorites underneath. While the majority of the fluorite cubes are incomplete, they are translucent enough that one can still discern the inner yellow core to purple to thin blue zoning. Contacting on the edges as well as some minor bruising on the calcite tips need to be noted. It is not perfect but it is pretty. An overall attractive calcite specimen from the famous Illinois locale. Ex. Chet Lemanski Collection.
