Calcite on Dolomite

Item Description

A classic rhombohedral calcite crystal from china, 7 cm across, perched smartly on dolomite matrix. It is perfectly centered and looks simple in shape at first glance, but the more you look at it, the more subtle geometry you see on the surfaces, and within. While not a particularly important calcite in value or rarity, it is nevertheless a fine crystal, a fine specimen, and a classic representative example from this locale.
