Calcite on Colemanite (Minette and Reynolds Coll.)

Item Description

An exceptional, sculptural and aesthetic older calcite on colemanite from the famous Boron open pit. A striking starburst of glassy, translucent, gray colemanite spikes is colorfully accented with scattered stacked clusters of rich yellow, translucent, rounded calcite crystals. This impressive combination has a sawed base, that enhances the beautiful display quality. Nearly pristine, with only one broken calcite in the lower center, certainly only a minimal detraction to this very fine combination. The older piece has a fine provenance having been in the Jim Minette Collection and was probably self-collected by Jim in 1975, per his label. Jim was a very well-known collector and dealer and was the mine engineer at the pit at that time.
