Calcite on Calcite w/ Duftite (Tom Wolfe Coll.)

Item Description

Very glassy calcite rhombs, to 3.1 cm on the diagonal, are aesthetically scattered on the thin undulating calcite crust covered with smaller rhombs. The back of this two-sided rib is totally different! Sparkly, surgary, lozenge-shaped rhombs totally cover this side. Inclusions of light mint-green duftite throughout give this showy piece pretty color. The lustrous face of the large rhomb is a cleavage, otherwise the piece is in excellent shape. Tsumeb, like Dal'negorsk, is renowned for calcite quality and diversity and this is a very fine and uncommon two-sided example. Ex Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
