Item Description

A striking and excellent, large, two-generation calcite specimen from this obscure Iowa roadcut locality. Very sculptural, wheatsheaf-like tufts of colorless calcite scalenohedrons are aesthetically scattered on the undulating earlier generation of rootbeer-brown calcite rhombs. The bowtie has great visual appeal. Tiny marcasites are sprinkled on the calcites. Pristine, except for the periphery wear. An excellent and large Iowa calcite from an uncommon locale from the Shclichter Collection. The back and one edge has been sawed to enhance the display quality.
