Item Description

A rare and striking style of calcite from this long-extinct Utah mining district. Striking, stair-stepped, glassy, translucent, straw-yellow, modified calcite rhombs have coated earlier large dogtooth calcites. The crystals on the back have a secondary iron oxide coating. Complete all-around. The five impressive towers on the skyline are pristine in the display view. The piece has very aesthetic form and displays well without aid. Weak fluorescence. Possibly from the obscure Eureka Bullion Mine. An unusual and rare old-timer from Bob Trimingham Collection. Ex Robert Chadbourne Collection according to the Bob's label and originally came with a Lazard Cahn label. A MUST for the calcite or locality collector.
